Bad alternator?

Since I had my new clutch installed, my evo has been acting up. When I turn the car on, and then turn the headlights on, my RPMs will drop and the "Service Engine Soon" light comes up. After a few times of On/Off it stops but it happens every other time I turn on the car.

I'm thinking it might be a bad alternator but I'm not sure, any suggestions?

I think when the alternator goes bad, the brake light and battery light will come on together. At least they did on my car, and I've seen it on other evos. I'd pull the code and see what your SES light is for.

There was a few occasions where I would be driving at night and my headlights would flicker. I would pull over and turn to check what was wrong and it would stop. I'm gonna get the SES code pulled today so hopefully its nothing major.

Have you checked your battery cables just to make sure they are tight...I'd start with the easy stuff first...battery cables, battery...

Yeah I checked all the battery cables, I went to pull the code and nothing came up. I'm gonna have the alternator checked tomorrow.

If it was the alternator on your car it would not run for very long, only as long as the battery stays charged, which would only be a couple hours at most.

Well the alternator checked okay, so I don't know what it could be. It doesn't happen all the time, only maybe 2 times in the last 3 weeks.

I could have told you the alternator wasn't bad with out you even getting it checked. If that goes bad you won't even be able to drive anywhere. your car will keep dying and need to be jumped. I've had two bad alternators on my old truck.

Idk what your problem could be.. If it happened right after your clutch install there is a place to start. You could go look at everything that was messed with.
