No more chevron...
55k on the clock and my baby has never drank anything but chevron, but now with them going out of business I'm forced to make the switch. What type/brand of fuel are you guys using? The best grade out here is 91 octane, so of the crap water available what is the highest quality fuel? Any input would be great, thanks in advance guys.
Shell and BP, All Iv used in my cars for as long as I can remember, I switch back and forth every now and then so the detergents in one clean out any residue left by the other.
I'm probably crazy and paranoid but it makes me feel better.

I have logged almost every major gas company: irving, shell, hess, gulf, mobil, sunoco. They all work well. Shell has probably some of the best cleaners. Irving is cheap and works well but i typically run gulf. I know buschur has some empirical evidence of issues with valero so i do avoid them. Otherwise anything should fly.

Not sure if it was an isolated issue but I know a few years back a Valero in CT got in trouble because they were watering down there gas...maybe 2002ish I wanna say.
There are still chevrons in town, I think it's ever ready that is closing. I use the one on Candelaria and San Mateo. If chevron does shut down I'll just switch back to shell
Yeah Sunoco in CT I believe is 94oct, its been a while since Iv been bacl home though it might be 95.
I'm glad I have e85 like 2 minutes from my house but I had to sacrifice anything about 91oct for like 100 miles in return lol.
Once I running e85 it wont bother me so much except when I have to go to 91 to drive somewhere far.

This is the first time I've heard anything about Chevron going out of business. I know here in Los Angeles they are the same as Texaco. It's funny that the quality of Chevron has been spotty at best between stations. In the last several months the quality has actually been pretty good. It's a shame that they'll be gone now that the gas seems to be more decent for crappy 91 octane.
I'm about to have to burst everyone's bubble in here....
But here goes...
Sorry to break it to you, but EVERY GAS STATION IN YOUR TOWN USES THE EXACT SAME GAS. They ALL GET IT FROM THE SAME TERMINALS.
The only difference is what grade the stations buy, what additives they put in it once it gets there, and possibly the condition of the storage tanks/equipment at the individual gas station. It's all the same gas though. I worked for Citgo Petroleum in Lake Charles, LA, the 4th largest in the nation, as a cheif process operator for 3 and a half years before taking a job with Chevron Phillips Chemical. At our terminals we'd ship gas to every gas station in the city. Conoco did the same, and do did the other refineries. All the gas gets pooled together. It's all the same thing. When you buy gas at a Chevron station, you are not buying gas directly from Chevron.
