Why do people criticize the evo?
yeah let em hate bro. I find the only people who talk smack on evos are people who dont know anything about cars, or people who have been smashed on by one. Every kid with a honda is secretly jealous that they dont have an evo instead. Older people who make comments are living in the day when muscle was king and are unwilling to accept that the little ricer will smoke them stock for stock in any kind of race. The auto-crossers hate because the evos always win
I love haters. It just means i'm doing something right!

i'm 26 and i've ran into a few people that have criticized the car (mostly for the wing) you have to understand you chose an evo for a reason.. its a practical 4 door super car. never doubt or regret choices youve made. you made them for a reason. i had owned 4g63s my whole life and i was debating on whether to buy a G35 (looks great, not fast and over priced) or the evo, something i knew was bomb proof and i'd be happy getting into for years to come. your going to have haters but you will have just as many enthusiasts who make your feel ecstatic about your car. point is you own a car that is ahead of its time, not all people are going to know and understand what we drive and why. but does that really matter? the answer is hell no. you bought this car for a reason and never let anyone's negligence impact your opinions.
First off nothing in my post suggests I am weak minded. I never imposed that I wanted to sell the car for these reasons. I simply stated that it pisses me off and I don't understand WHY people make such remarks about he car. Your punctuation and sentence structure clearly shows why and how easily you can misinterpret a thread like this. Thanks for your input, it hit home. LOL
1. tell them ok thats your opinion and move on
2. agree with them and just respond ok to there rants
3. state if you dont like it fine just dont discuss it around me
4. get up and walk away
5. Ignore them
I have only met one person that did not like my evo and i responded ok thats your opinion and your entitled to that and changed the subject of the conversation. My comment to you is that we as owners all hear it but i did not buy my cars based on other peoples opinions i bought it based on my research and i liked what i saw. Nothing anybody is going to say friends GF Parents etc is changing my mind nor am i even hearing that conversation. This is the internet i dont have be grammatically correct if you want that go to a english class

Well, I am in my late 30's and it does not make a difference. People dislike what they have not. It is only until they have driven an Evo, do they understand ( this was the case with most of my friends that drive BMWs and Mustangs ).
I am 38. I get a few looks (especially with my plate saying "BOOSTED") Mostly from soccer moms. My neighbor told me that she thought the plate meant I stole it.
Anyways this car is a pure menace! I love the fact that when I am rollin there is not a car that I have met on the road that can compete. It's a rush to know I am king (when I want to be) and I really get a kick out of driving a couple mph under the speed limit. The looks I get when my 4 year old is in the booster seat in back and I'm doing 68 in a 70mph is pure joy
. I have owned a lot of fast cars in my day (3 over 600 whp) and they just can't compare. Enjoy what you have (and I know we all do) and let every comment (good or bad) come as a compliment.
Cheers, Rick

Yea people constantly ask me why I didn't just get an M3. Or even an M6 with how much money I have in the Evo eheh. But ya, take your wing off, I took mine off and it looks a little more grown-up.
I'm 35 now. And like someone said earlier, people who criticize the Evo are probably not car enthusiasts anyway... so don't worry about them. Swapping for a set of JDM rear light does help give it a more "adult" look. I've gotten the finger once before though. But for the most part, the vast majority of people give me the thumbs up and they seem to suspect there's something different about the car. Most of the “challengers” I get these days are from E92 M3 and E60 M5 owners. If that's the case, you know you've got something special.
Rock on.
Rock on.
With that being said its your car and your life. The car can be very tame if you drive it and set it up as such. Removing the wing and making it quiet will deff score you some points in getting out of that young boy toy image. Enjoy your car, its basically the best import you can have for the money that rules all motorsports lol.
