Why do people criticize the evo?
most people dont know anything yesterday i got gas and the attendant (we cant do it ourselves in jersey) asked what the "decoration" on my trunk was and where he could get one for his camry haha
I am a 37 year old finance professional, and all i am gonna say is this. If you listen to what other people think, your signature just might look like mine... Here i am, just realizing and accepting the Evo for what it is, the most incredible beast i can buy. She may not be that cute, but i be damn if i am gonna date a girl just because YOU think she's hot! And now, i am looking for another Evo IX...

I'm just buying a IX now and I'm going to rebadge the trunk to say "F*CK YOU"
X2...
The X was certainly (in my opinion) a point to confront the issues that the 8 and 9 had from the market's target customer. If you actually consider the logic many bought these cars and drove them for less than 10-15K miles and then sold em because it had all the performance they wanted but none of the amenities a $35-40K car should. So they cut back on the all out race performance and took a note at the amenities.... lets face it 20yr olds can't afford $40k cars unless they are rich, and the car market does not account for those types of people. The customer to be heard and the OE wants them to come back to buy more cars

I don't know why Mitsu felt the need to stray so far off the beaten path with the X - because a sports car is never going to do volume in sales. Mitsu can make its money with the base Lancer - the evo should not be bloated for the sake of appealing to a slightly broader demographic. I stand by my statement that the X is not an Evo, it's a "sporty compact sedan". The last true evo was the IX.

When you consider the performance level of the Evo, it's price is very reasonable. You don't need fancy amenities and how many racers end up stripping that **** out of their car anyway to save weight? I know I did not buy my evo for heated seats or a GPS...I bought it because it's fast, handles spectacularly and is a hell of a lot of fun to drive.

They are chasing the aging market segment that owned the VIII/IX, thinking they would want a bit more luxury and even an auto manual. Plus they are stuck with the lancer line so a new chassis was going to happen. They tried to account for the "new" gen of evo owner which essentially wants the car unchanged from the IX. The GSR is pretty good really. It HAD to gain weight because of the side airbag requirement. The chassis is heavier but stiffer. Not all a bad trade off? They did not have to dumb down the steering ratio. I like the IX better but the X GSR is still an Evo. The MR and T variant is another matter.
I second what has already been said... de-wing and you'll be surprised how much less attention you get. When I took the wing off, several people actually asked me why I sold my car.
