Anyone with a BR downpipe on an VIII?

Quick question for anyone with a BR downpipe on an VIII (or IX)...

My DP seems to be clunking into something everytime I accelerate from a dead stop... not even a serious pull... just a normal roll from a stop... is anyone else experiencing this?

Is it those black cross-member bars under the car? If so, what can I do about that? Are there any aftermarket pieces that clear the exhaust with a decent amount of room?

Anyway, just throwing some thoughts out there... hopefully someone who knows what is going on will chime in...

Thanks!!

put 2 or 3 washers under the cross bars and it should space it out enough to keep it from rattling

1) remove the underbody tie bars, and run ur car to see if they are the ones causing the noise, or u could just push the dp up & down and see if it bangs againts them.

2) if they are the issue, then get urself some washers (i use 3 washers on mine, approx. 5mm worth of spacing) and space down the tie bars.

That shoudl do it. gl!

^Hey, Jarrod. In reference to your questions, I haven't fixed the issue yet. The last couple days have been a little crazy at work, and I haven't had the time to pop under the car. I figured tomorrow I'll have some time and try to remove the under body cross bars, drive the car a little, and see if that is the issue...

And, yes, I bought the BR exhaust new, from you guys... February-ish of this year, if I remember correctly. I am not necessarily 100% sure if it is the DP causing this clunk, but there seems to be very little clearance between the DP and cross bars, and I have checked out some other things... so, far nothing, and the clunk continues to happen... The DP looks like it is definitely possible so, I figured I'd check it next.

Have you guys seen/heard of this happening before? If not, any suggestions?

When the DP/exhausts are purchased new from us there is a hardware kit included. In that hardware kit there are 5 S.S. spacers and 5 longer bolts. Some people dont take the time to find out what they are and toss them aside.

Those bolts replace the ones that currently hold your tie bars on. The spacers go between the tie bar and the bottom of your car to space the bars down which will allow ample DP clearance. If they arent used its a good chance the bars will hit the DP.

^ Thanks, Jarrod!

I got a bunch of install work done all at once. It is quite possible the shop just didn't install the spacers/bolts... the clearance (DP to tie bars) would indicate that as well.

Is it possible for me to acquire another install kit from you guys?
