running rich?

my car seems to be running pretty rich and there is definitely power loss. current mods are intake, catback and jester m2 flash(only mods for the last 3 years). over the past year, my car slowly began running richer and richer. initially, when i got the car tuned 3 years ago it was a rock solid 11.7-11.8 a/f. now at WOT it dips to 11.3 and sometimes richer than that. boost still peaks at 21-22psi and doesn't seem to spike.

the a/f ratios sometimes go berserk. for example, in fourth gear, light throttle to keep at a constant speed. the a/f dips to 10.0 sometimes, even when i didn't increase or decrease pedal pressure. when i do lift off the pedal while in gear, it dips to 10.X and fluctuate there for about a second then goes blank(i have a AEM a/f guage).

sorry i do not have a datalogger, no CEL, i was going to do a boost leak check today, but the coupler was way too big for the stock turbo(probably won't be able to the boost leak test until sometime next week)

any info will be helpful, thank you

Check for boost leaks first, if you don't find any I would have your tuner take a closer look at the tune.

new problem arose last night. partial throttle low boost 6-7psi, turbo sounds normal, bov sounds normal. 8+ psi, something under the hood starts to whistle or whizzing sound and the bov sounds like it isn't releasing the pressure properly. the bov is barely audible. i pulled the intake piping off to check the turbo, and everything seems ok. the compressor wheel looks good, no in/out or side to side movement. all things seem to point to a bad bov now. is this what happens when a bov goes bad? can anyone comfirm or deny this? thanks

A leak of some sort. Check your IC pipes and vacuum hoses for any cracks/tears poss. I've had that happen to my eclipse gs-t, found a fear in my coupler on my cold side IC pipe.

Complete a successful boost leak test and report back. Make sure you do it properly. Use TedB's thread for reference.

If you report back with a surprising "no leaks found. not one." Then clean your maf sensor and check o2 sensor.

Yes, CEL= service engine soon, no light than your O2 is probably fine. Do the boost leak test like others have mentioned. You can pick up some MAF cleaner its like $8 at auto parts store

I just bought a can of cleaner with my O2 to resolve the same issue,

Good luck.

hey guys, i finally got some free time to do the boost leak test. the bov is leaking like crazy. it doesn't hold more than 6-7psi. looks like i am in the market for a recirculated bov.

do you have meth? if not 11.7-11.8 a/f on pump gas isnt really safe, 11.3 sounds alot better. i know you most likely have a leak but get that a/f checked out too.
