A new EVO 8 for me

So I picked up an 03 AS 8 with 62000 miles. It is in great shape and was very well documented and taken care of. It has a Helix TBE, intake, SSQV BOV, and Works p2 flash. The car runs great, pulls like mad. A few questions have been answered but I need some insight. It has the oem clutch still, it holds fine under all conditions but shutters/chatters sometimes in reverse and first. It seems to do it more when it is all warmed up. Can I fix this with a clutch pedal adjustment? Then what would you guys recommend with the BOV? It has a HKS upper pipe where the BOV mounts and it is vta. I don't really like the loud ricer sound. Any recommendations here? I have seen a recirculating kit for the BOV, would that help quiet it down? Pictures soon to come.

OEM clutch is junk, I would plan on putting in a new performance clutch of you choosing.
As far as the BOV, get a Evo9 metal and sell the SSQV. Should be reciculated!

Hope this helps.

OEM clutch does not suck, there is people that had theirs last for 70-80k miles, try having a twindisk last for more than 20k miles. If the clutch chatters then it is not an OEM, i have never driven an evo with oem clutch that chatters, BUT at the same time anything is possible. Btw you can mess with the pedal adjustment, but the chatter doesnt usually gets resolved with the pedal adjustment.

Shudder is from the BOV being VTA. Get a recirculated BOV and it'll be fine.

So your saying that the BOV VTA can cause 1st gear take off shutter or chatter. I plan on changing the BOV but if it is causing the shudder/chatter I will do is asap.

Yeah that is easy to say, but slightly pricey. If all I have to deal with is a little chatter then I will milk this clutch. It works fine otherwise. I was just seeing if there was anything that you could do about it.

19 posts, and this is what you contribute? the OEM clutch is fine. the drivers suck. I can't count how many launches I made on my stocker, and how many autocrosses I ran. With 70k miles on the clutch I ran the time in my sig on a stock car other than suspension, and still on the stock clutch. stop coming in here and spreading misinformation about things you don't know.

With only 19 posts: At least I offered some opinions on the situation.

With 3,073 posts: No advice and criticism. Next, you'll be telling the OP using the search button. Take it easy.

By the way, I see you have a ACT HDSS clutch nice.

Back on topic.

Well I would have to say that I will take any info that I can. Ask me about rock crawlers and I will give you what you need, but if it is the clutch, which I hope it is not, what is an inexpensive clutch that will hold up to DD use and some spirited driving here and there. And I noticed if I let it out slower than I am used to, it will take off just fine. Like I have to let it slip a little more than usual to get it rolling without chatter.

Alright the clutch issue is resolved for now. I put my full stock intake on to get it by the smog dudes and I have a bargain to make. I have the HKS upper intercooler pipe and SSQV piece in the picture. I would like to sell it or trade it for a Evo 9 MR valve+ a little $. It retails for 374$ and is in great shape. The reason this is in my thread is because I do not have 50 posts yet.
