Steering wheel shaking after 65mph
i had a vibration once. it turned out to be a bad wheel bearing. it would only vibrate over 65mph. replaced the knuckle, problem solved. the old bearing had a bit of play in it.
i hit a curb a while back bad enough to bend the rims on the passenger side of the car. it was only about 2" tall and i ran it over.
i bought a new set of wheels and tires. i then noticed the steering wheel shaking at 70mph, intermittently. i checked the balance and all four wheels were off. were they? or are they now? two different shops.
anyway.. i still have it. car was aligned today as well as the re-balance. when i let go of steering wheel, sure enough. shakes left to right a bit. the car FEELS fine, it's just the wheel that moves.
another bad wheel bearing? they seem to be pretty sensitive to going bad. the weights on my two front wheels are .5 and .75 oz, the rears each have 1.75oz. that seems quite a bit, to me, especially considering they are name-brand wheels and tires. i'm gonna swap fronts and rears and see if that makes any difference.
the wheel shake is present during braking/acceleration/cruising. i didn't have this problem until smacking the curb.

actually, i just remembered: wheel bearing. i had to replace my driver's side, front knuckle. the bearing had play in it causing a ton of vibration, but only after 70mph. it also would vibrate while turning one way more than the other, on the freeway. that was my first clue. i could feel it though the floor and steering wheel, but your results may vary.
i did ad hub centric rings.. but that didn't help.
sorry for the wrong info. it was a few years ago and the details were pretty hazy.

Sorry for lack of updates but my car was rear ended the night before I was going to get it balance. Luckily it was most cosmetic and nothing mechanical. I am getting 7 tails and jdm rear so that's the good news. I hope to have it back by Wednesday but you never know ha. I'll have to double check my hubs
