You're right....that was my mistake in the first place. But they can at least check it for free, so might as well start with things that don't cost me money. After that I'm checking and/or replacing inner tie rods. After that, I'm taking it to a professional shop. I'll probably just take it back to TurboTrix.

my mechanic demonstrated to me during my alignment job, you can hit target specs very easily. the problem is as you tighten things down, the specs are thrown off very easily also and that is why precision alignment is time consuming.

he says many shops will get the specs, print them out THEN tighten it down. then your alignment is off and you dont even know it....

next time go to a trusted alignment guy and recheck the specs...

Good info, the goodyear alignment took about 45min (incorrectly) the alignment shop that did it right took about two hours
Where in EB are you? I grew up in Spotswood

Thanks mifesto...that makes a lot of sense. I talked to my high school shop teacher and he said I can bring it by tomorrow to throw up on the lift and take a look at the steering and suspension in the front. Maybe something will pop out at us. Otherwise, I made an appointment for Thursday at this place in Rockaway called Carraddini's. They do a lot of custom hot rods and muscle cars, and they did the alignment on my Talon which is very low to the ground and needed a lot of adjustments and they did an EXCELLENT job. I bet they could figure it out.

as 9evolution said, my mechanic got my specs just right in under 30 minutes... more then double that to get the specs after he tightened it down though

Seriously people, stop f*****g posting stupid ****. This has been said several times in this thread and I've mentioned several times that this issue persisted through 2 sets of wheels, both of which have been balanced and re-balanced.

Sorry man, I'm just getting frustrated with this issue and tired of hearing the same stuff over and over again....

Anyway, I just got back from taking a look at the car with my old shop teacher on the lift. We couldn't find anything unusual. No play in the inner or outer tie rods, tires looked fine, nothing was loose, bushings were good, I mean there was no sign of anything being even slightly worn out. So I'm taking it to this local shop that does excellent work and have them look at it. My guess is it needs a better alignment. Otherwise I have no idea.

Sorry to read that your still having problems. I guess your problem is that 1 out of 10. I'm sure a high end shop will get this figured out. One thing and excuse me since I did't read all the posts but years ago a bad CV joint was giving me wheel vibrations on a front drive VW Scirocco.

Yea I looked over the axles today when it was on the lift. Boots are in excellent shape, and they make no noises while driving, so I am guessing they are ok. Thanks.

I just got off the phone with the local shop (Carradini's). They said it's all fixed up! The guy told me the alignment was WAAAAAY off, and all the wheels that I got from TireRack and were "Road Force balanced" were not actually balanced. So he said he just got back from a drive up route 80 at 80+MPH with absolutely no shake or shimmy. I'm calling tire rack and *****ing at them, and taking this receipt to Sears to get my money back.

Cool problem solved! It was balance after all. Unless you can see that the aligment is off by eyeballing it that won't cause vibration. The car may pull to one side or wear the tire uneven etc. I have done lots of suspension work and used some string and a ruler for a quick alignment and never had vibrations. Laser aligments are great but not critical.

I wasn't repying to your quote, I was replying to others who have the same thing that come along and read this. And from the looks of it your alignment was off. Great way to look cool.
