megan coilover problems

i bought my car used and the dealer had no idea what mods had been done to the car. After jacking it up i noticed that my car had meagan racing coilovers. After a few months my suspension started to make a clanking noise when i turned my wheel at slow speeds. Found out that the coil had loosened up and was spinning and binding as i turned. So i tightend it and it was good for a week but keeps coming loose. Any ideas what i could do to keep the two nuts from loosening. Or option b someone on craigslist is selling bilsteins with only 15000 miles on them for 300 bucks would this be a downgrade or a good solution

bilsteins deff arent a downgrade from megan parts, see quite a bit of threads about them blowing out/leaking. if the ones you are looking at are complete with strut bearings and springs then thats a steal, even if they are bare it still seems like a good deal. I have them on my car and they feel great!

yeah bilstein are great coilovers. They give a real smooth ride. There are many complaints about megan on other forums.

I hate to Assume, but I take it the "spring - jam nuts" are loosening?

If so, then: 1) make sre the jam nuts are tightened to spec
Also make sure: 2) your preload is set correct.
and if not certain: 3) use a marker after you have set it all back up and see which part loosens up, check this soon after. It may be the lower jam nut or the whole stack moving (not likely).

Report back what you find!

Im having the same issue. When I went to adjust them. I noticed that 3 of 4 were loose on the top nuts (didnt even need wrenches they were so loose)and 2 of 4 were loose on the bottom nut as well as the top. I also am having the same noises even after I though they were fixed. The whole set up was spinning when I tried to adjust them.
