backfire question

so i was driving down when i hit the throttle hard then shifted from 2nd to 3rd i heard a popping sound from behind, the road was smooth so i assumed it was a backfire not a suspension issue.

is it normal for the car to backfire like that? my a/f ratio is fine i'm not running too rich, but it rare for this to happen. car was warmed up well since i was already on my way home.

TIA!

-Anton

Try to replicate the problem again by doing the same thing on another flat road you already cruised down and know there is no bumps. What are the mods on your car?

The tranfer case will make a loud bang if you shift too fast too hard are you sure you just wernt kickin butt. Also try it at night because you can see a big flash if you back fire.

Well depending on the tune, it might be backfiring. Test pipe or cat?

I'm pretty sure that is the rear diff making the noise and not the TC.

I dont think it was a backfire because you stated that you weren't running rich? But if you have a testpipe,f pump, injectors and a tune, you def will backfire.

Normal, car gets rich between shifts sometimes, and it pops. you get that more often if you VTA on stock ecu.
