srr bumper quick release?

So I caught my bumper on a drain, and the tab on the fender that the bumper bolts to broke off completely. So there is not chance of drilling a new hole. I need a quick fix thats not to expensive and I'm out of ideas..
So what I am wondering is just how bad would it look if I put a set of the SRR bumper disconnects on my evo. I've seen em on hondas and several nissans, but never an evo so if anyone has a picture I would be very appreciative, or if someone has a better idea that will be fine too.
thanks

cliffs: fender tab broke, out of ideas, are srr quick releases bad?

hell, make one. those look like pressure clamps or something like that just rivetted on. I've seen that kind of setup on time attack cars and all sorts of stuff. I was thinking about doing it myself.

now when you say fender tab, are you just talking about that little plastic clip, or the hole for the bolts?

i did the same thing ...totally ripped the part out of the fender......I cant really describe how i repaired it, but I will have my front wheel off tonight to work on brakes so i can take a picture for you...I just basically cut a piece of rectangular steel to connect over to the part that still had metal then drilled a hole in the piece of steel and used a nut and bolt with a wide washer to tighten it all together. It holds well, but is a bit of a pain to remove the bumper now...

i'm guessing that srr kit is costly, which is why you're not just buying that. Here's an idea, go to home depot, and find similar latches for cheap, and install them yourself.

just an example

But I would look for something more flush and can be riveted onto the car.

In our case, the bracket that holds the bumper was almost completely gone. I made a small bracket that's shaped like the area where the bumper bolts to the fender. I drilled a small hole and welded a nut just above the hole. Then using a JB weld I glued the metal piece to the inside of the fender right where bumper usually bolts. I put a rubber bushing between the bumper and the fender, and then just crewed in a 1/2" long bolth that holds the bumper.

since the bracket is attached to the fender, and nut welded to the bracket, taking off the bumper is very easy. Just unscrew the bolt and take off the bumper.

Can you post picture of yours, so we can get better idea what can be done ?

I dont really have the money to buy and paint a new fender so thats completely out of the question.

although letmein's idea seems like it will work perfect for me so I will try that..
