evo ix mr question

Ok here is whats going on. I am currently looking for my first evo. I just found one that is for sale but am not sure about the price. The car for sale is an 06 WW IX MR with 23k miles for 17k. When I called the owner he told me the car had a salvage title due to a tree going into the front windsheild and and also breaking the rear one as well. He also said that there was also some damage on the roof but it was very minor and he had it all replaced. If you looked at the car now you wouldnt be able to tell that the roof was hit or anything. My questions are:

Is the 17k price tag too high for a salvage title?
Would they total a car just because of the damage listed above?
What would be a price at which the car would be a good buy if everything is good condition?

Is the Car Stock or is it modded? My personal opinion is to stay away from Salvage title autos. You just never know..

+1. How bad was the roof damaged? You don't want to compromise your safety.

Yeah, I wasn't too sure about it either but that is true... if im spending that much money might as well spend a bit more and get a clean title car. I am not sure of the mods on the car but im pretty sure its stock, or maybe just an exhaust.

As for the roof damage he said it was not bad just scratches... i am suppost to be getting pictures of the car with the damage tomorrow so even i am not sure, that is just what he told me.

I would keep looking. If the car was like 12k i would say JUMP on it. But again just my opinion on the Salvage thing I just don't trust it.

Yeah that's probably what I am going to do. I might be able to get down to 15 but its still a salvage title.

15 is pretty cheap for a low mileage MR... When looking at an MR you really want to know the History cause of possiable Trans issues... They are a bit more fragile than the 5...

Ill have to decide tomorrow I guess after I see the pictures to see the damage and if its worth it to take the drive out to test the car, but I am definitely looking for an MR so i'm going to take your advice and be more concerned with the history of the car like you said.

Good luck.... Where in PA are you? Took me about 13 months to find the right car for me. Take your time and make a smart decision not an emotional one.. This forum is a great source of info as well..

I'm in Stroudsburg. I have realized that this community is great with both information and friendliness. As for making a smart decision, I would like to do that but I was currently in an accident and my car was damaged, plus it has been giving me nothing but trouble since I got it so it is time to move on. So I don't have time with school starting now and work aswell, but I will try to wait out as long as I can and get the best deal that I can.

I wouldn't buy a salvage title car either. To risky with issues you know.

I would keep looking unless you somehow make a great deal. Took me almost a yr and a half to find my evo and it was def worth the wait. Being smart is key when buying one of these cars.

never go salvage man! unless you are making a track car than you would be reinforcing it yourself anyways. lots good advice in here. just wait it out man never settle for something that isnt right. best to wait it out for something better.
