Head lights adjustment

Hey guys, I followed a post by somebody on here to raise the headlights and it was pretty easy. But there is one problem, it seems like mitsu designed the driver side headlight unadjustable. The left side headlight doesnt move up any further than it already preset my the factory. Did anybody one here successfully got the left to raise higher? Peace

its like that for a reason, so you are not blinding other motorist coming at you in the left lane. just the opposite for the wierdos that drive on the wrong side of the road. . i guess if you wanted to. you could get an adjuster out of a car designed for left lane useage overseas.

Kyle.

It will adjust up just like the other side. I've done it.

Dang....Really? Well, as I adjusted the right side, I can hear the thing adjusted itself to the new hight. But I didnt hear that sound with the left side. It just not going anywhere. It turned just find, but no clicking sound indicating that it is adjusting to the new level of hight just like the right side did. For sure I know the my left side headlight is not broken. I can adjusted it up and down through the headlight adjustment button inside the car. Ummm, so did anybody around here experiencing the same problem? Thx guys for the quick reply. Peace outside!!!

I think what you hear clicking is the green metal wheel gear stripping / slipping on the small black plastic gear. There shouldn't be any clicking noise when adjusting the headlights.

OK folks I JUST did mine. I used the 10mm socket as outlined in the post above. It took me about 10 minutes.

I set it on zero
Marked on my garage door where each light lined up.
Set it on 2.
Turned each 10mm nut counterclockwise until it matched up with the original marks.

It was a little tricky getting into the driver side without a 1/4 ratchet but my smaller 3/8 handle did fit.

I did remove the coolant tank on the passenger side to make it easier.

I did watch the small plastic black gear to be SURE it was moving and not stripping as I moved the 10mm nut.

I briefly tested the phillips/torx screwdriver method and I stopped immediately since it seemed to be very risky as far as stripping gears.

I didn't re-adjust my high beams since the change was minimal when they are on in any setting. I figure if the regular beams are set on 0 (much higher) then I have no problem with the high beams being higher also and in test driving it was fine.

I think the important thing to remember here is that it is a slow movement. You can BARELY see the light move up with each small turn on the ratchet so it takes quite a few turns to get it up to where the zero setting was.

I liked it a LOT better when I test drove it on setting 1. It's higher and easier to see a little farther ahead. We'll see if I get flashed on 1 or 0. The nice thing is you can always go back to setting 2 which is the original height and use 0 and 1 when you need them.

With the pothole season upon us I think any lighting advantage may help preserve my wheels, not to mention the obvious safety advantage of seeing further ahead. Only time will tell how annoying the new height is to other drivers. In any case now I can have it stock OR higher and adjust it from my seat which is great.

As a follow up...the first night out with higher lights was great. Easier to see the road further ahead....and so far no one flashed me on the #1 setting. I didn't try 0 yet in traffic. We'll see how it does in the 17-inches of snow headed our way tonight.
