Thumbs up Easy way to raise/lower headlights

After struggling for 20 minutes with a flathead screwdriver, my friend and I gave up and started trying random tools on the little gears and the nut in the center. 5 minutes later, we found that a 10mm socket attached to a standard length handle fits perfectly over the nut. Another 5 minutes and both headlights are now at the perfect level. The drive home on 280 was sooooooooooo nice...I can actually see down the road

Hope this helps others trying to aim their headlights higher.

Just use a phillips screwdriver. That's what the gears are made for.

I love the HID's on my Evo, but I have a hills on my road going to my house. as I come down the hills it seems the HID's point straight to the ground and I can't see hardly anything unless I hit my high beams on.

I guess I'm gonna have to look around the headlight assembly and see what your talking about because I have no idea. Thanks for the helpful hints though.

keep it on 0 thats the default setting putting it on 4 makes it point down more towards the ground.

There's a little hole, with some gear looking things in them. The hole is big enough for a phillips screwdriver. There are a couple pictures on here, but I'm too lazy to search for them right now.

You put a screwdriver in there, and slowly crank. Takes a number of turns, but that's how you adjust the headlight levels.

What I did, and it really helped....

Park your car near a wall or something.

Turn on your headlights, so you can see where the beam is. It's a pretty easy way to tell what you're doing, because the beam ends so abruptly.

Mark where your lights are at the 0 setting. (Highest)

Turn your lights down to 2 (middle)

Use the adjustment screws to move the lights back up to where it was at 0.

Now you have 2 more levels to go, higher than 0.

I find that setting 1 is perfect... you get flashed for brights every once in a while.

Level 0 is extreme now. You'll get flashed for brights almost all the time.
