Glad some of you are finding the pics helpful.
Credit goes to a few that posted how to with a 10mm socket a while back, but no one ever posted pics IIRC. It just seems the most logical way to adjust them, aside from being fast and easy.

I haven't gone out there yet, but which way is up/down? Clockwise/counter clock wise? I can see my big, ape, *** stripping the plastic gears if it is already at the end of travel one way or another...

when i first bought my evo i took it to the dealer and they adjusted them alot higher! he used a 4 fool long snap on torx bar, i think it might be t15??? but it took him 30 sec. on each side! most the time was spent getting them straight! i love people thinking im a $80,000 luxury car now and i fly by in my evo!

I just got done doing the 2 settings higher adjustment. I like it alot! Setting 1 is where I'll keep it. Setting 0 will be for times when I need a lot of light, offroading, and just because.

The metal gear, I think, is just used to turn the plastic gear. The passenger side was easy once the coolant overflow tank is set to the side. My drivers side plastic gear kept slipping on the metal gear. I had to persuade the plastic gear with a flathead screwdriver while I simultaneously ratcheted the 10mm nut on the metal gear. It was a pain, but I got it. That plastic gear is a POS and needs to be made of metal.

I highly recommend this free modification/adjustment.

Holy crap thanks guys, ive been tryin to set them higher for months and none of the posts about it helped. I tried botht he 10 mm socket and the screwdriver and the phillips screwdriver is MUCH better and MUCH faster. all you have to do is get a normal sized phillips screwdriver and put it in the hole on the "inside" of the gear. You will notice there are 2 green gears facing away from eachother. There is a little hole on the inner gear where u are supposed to put your screw driver. Just put it in there and turn the screwdriver clockwise and it will higher your beams. What i mean by inner gear is the one closest to the front of your car.

What's the purpose of the black plastic gear that is attached to the back of the green gears. Mine seems to slip and get chewed when I turn the green adjustment gears. Should I remove them until I get the lights adjusted?

what the hell is wrong with u people. All you need is a normal phillups screwdriver, u stick it in the round hole next to those gears and turn, it will turn the gears by itself. As simple as screwing in a screw.
