From the start my passenger side light was always higher, shining a little farther down the road. When I raised them both I left them that way for the most part.

another benefit of this tweak

I've found another benefit to having performed this mod.

Now that it's snowing ( ...... I guess this only applies to those of us who get snow and actually drive their EVO in it) I've found that the low beams really can create a lot of "white glare" when it's snowing very hard (I have my headlights adjusted so that the lowest setting (0) now is about the equivalent of second highest setting (3) as adjusted from the factory). Anyhow, when I am driving and it's really snowing, I actually can use the adjustment dial in the car to crank them down from 2 to 0 and see much better without as much glare. When the heavy snowing stops I crank them back up to 2. Bonus!

They seem the same as far as brightness. Just the passenger side is aimed higher...unless I'm not looking that carefully.

BE CAREFUL! Because I did strip the plastics gear. The BIG metal wheel with the teeth is connected to a SMALLER plastic sprocket (of course). I didn't realize there was a plastic gear until I had already stripped it. Then I completely broke it off altogether. However, I think mine was jammed or something because I could barely get it to move with a pair of needle nose pliers. So watch it. I definitley recommend using a flashlight when doing this. Hope you don't get the same results I did.

That's a fact. Mine is stripped also with the plastic gear not wanting to turn when coaxed directly.

My passenger side is also aimed higher than the driver's side. I think that's the way it's meant to be.

They do that **** on purpose so you can spend MO'money in their parts department. One time I had to replace a plastic gear that was in my transmission on my '72 Chevelle. Now how stupid is that, to put a PLASTIC gear in a transmission?

YES passenger side is supposed to be higher. So you illuminate the road yet dont blind oncoming cars with left side. And if you look carefully (park in front of a white wall or something) the shape is so that the light raises as it goes right. All good H4 lights do this in Japan and Europe (but are illegal/off road use only here!?!?!). But of course in japan they're 'dipped' the wrong way. i.e. left side higher, higher as it goes left, and high beams will aim right, not left like here.

Your welcome. I'm glad it's been successful for many. As mentioned earlier credit goes to others who posted how to, but without pictures it was difficult to decipher what they were trying to say. Amazing what pictures can do.

I've also posted in the How-To section for those that happen on to thread so they have to hunt for pics. https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...threadid=53050

those plastic gears in there suck ***. I had the hardest time getting these adjusted. i am usually pretty handy with suff like thids, but these lights really gave me a fit. The passenger side I ended up unscrewing the mechanism and turning the cable with a set-of vice-grips. The drivers side was a biatch. I had to coax the stripped plastic gear along wiyth a flat head. My socket wrench wouldn't fit down in there. i refused to go to Lowes and but a slim socket-wrench just for this. All in all the lamps are good now, but it was so time-consuming. Props to those who got this done "easily".
