Why not ask more $$$$ when selling an EVO?
i wouldn't try to raise the price of our cars. Its super unfortunate but they are becoming DSMs at an even faster rate than cheap DSMs have become. People selling them for 12-15 makes me super sad. I feel like everyone has an evo now.
Give it a few years, and the bulk of those cars will be gone. Unlike DSMs, Hondas, etc big repairs aren't cheap.
Theres different EVO's on the market. Ones that are beat to **** going from one owner to another.
You see posts all the time people asking questions like "im buying this EVO, it has leaks and grinds, what should I or what would you do?" you see questions like that all the time.
Maybe those beat to **** unfortunate 4+ owner EVO's should be sold for cheap or just turned into track cars.
But those garaged one owner EVO's modded/stock whatever deserve $12+k for just being.
Maybe im prejudice because im the original owner of my EVO??
Secondhand EVO owners don't think like this because they bought it used, I don't know???

If we had that close to bulletproof drivetrain that the MKIV's have, maybe. I wonder how many Evo's do exist in the U.S. Just out of curiousty but there's quite a few that reside in a scrapyard.
I'd like to know, too. We started out with ~20,000 CT9A Evos. My guess is that ~20% are done for, maybe more. Obviously, I don't have a crystal ball. If the Evo follows the model common to such events, the next 5 years are going to be fun to watch.

You are expecting that a potential Evo owner wants to get raped like someone who bought their evo in the same scenario you detailed. They'd be an idiot.
I bought mine second hand........because I bought a brand new car once and after calculating depreciation, interest and what made sense......glad I bought mine used.
I made sure to have money set aside to fix some of the common used evo sore points.
I'm glad they're cheaper. Means I can buy another one and ressurect it like I did my current one and make it into something special.
The people who buy cheap honda's, rag them out and then move on to more upscale choices 9WRX, STi, Evo, Used Hyundai Genesis) will apply the same cheap *** mentality to said cars, get bit in the ***, can't afford to fix and sell on the cheap to those of us that can appreciate these cars for various reasons.

i agree with you. The way things go these days i think ill never sell my car. They are a great car but its only worth what people will pay, and right now people aren't offering much.

My only issue was when buying used... I hated paying any kind of reasonable price due to the fact that probably 98% of the previous owners of Evo's beat the **** out of them. So when I walk into a dealership and there asking 27k for an 05 MR with 70k miles that looks molested and such, I giggle and walk right back out. I looked for months before I found a "Fair" priced evo that was somewhat un-molested.
