Why not ask more $$$$ when selling an EVO?
even the "coveted" supra is losing its value very quickly in todays economic issues. your cars value depends on so many variables but it will sell when you get someone to pay what you want for it. i considered selling my supra after a bearing failure in 07 and didnt feel getting 45k for my car after it was fixed was worth what i had in it (fully built) and now the same level of modded car is going for 30 to 35k. i picked up my evo literally in boxes and assembled it myself with the parts purchased by the previous (out of money) owner for a steal and i feel its worth 25k (again fully built) now that it is assembled but again in this economic crunch i might see 18k on the open market. cars are not an investment at this level and even the vintage or exotic cars are dropping in value drastically.....
Since you ask, I think you should review a basic Economics text. The price of a used Evo is countered by the plethora of available substitutes.
You want your Evo to maintain its value? Keep the car relatively stock, don't rack up the miles, and maintain the car to better than showroom standards. How many cars like this do you think there are compared to all the chopped up Evos out there? Get my drift?

I plan to keep my Evo mostly stock, and in good condition. Fewer than 7500 miles per year. Keep the interior clean, and keep people from spilling stuff on the upholstery. I'll be able to sell it before others who have torn apart their cars...
for a lot of people the bank is the one who says what the car is worth. depending on age, mileage, and condition is what the bank looks at to give you a loan for the vehicle. If you are asking 30k for a 7 yr old vehicle that was 35k new no bank will give that loan. even if every person raised their price the Nada and blue-book values would not change.
Now alot of galant vr-4 owners have been arguing this for a while now. Say you have full coverage on the car and a tree falls on it. Let say that the insurence company says it's only worth 1,000. If you can prove that cars that are simalar to yours selling for alot more they tend to give you more, but you have to come up with more then one example. Thats why on the vr-4 forums we tend to leave the for sale thread up and how much the car sold for.

The guy had money and everything was disposable to him, as it is with many who have money.
I have restored things to a much better condition. The car stays garaged. I treat it well. Better than the first owner ever did. I do not plan on making my car a track car or getting rid of it. I love the style of the Evo.
Just being a second owner does not mean one does not care as much for the car as the first owner, sometimes we care more.
^^^ I agree but instead of "care more" I think second owners are "more grateful" lol. some first owners just beat the car and think to themselves I'm trading it in soon anyways who cares, I know alot of people with new cars that are like that.
