hey used cams question?

hey guys i got a set of used cams off a member from this forum but i noticed when they came in,they had some rust on some of the lobes and were rusty. im wondering if this will affect the performance of the cams at all or hurt my engine installing them. usually when i see cams the lobes on them are smooth finished. what you guys think?

Some pictures would definitely help us give you an answer, but I think the cams have been sitting for a while for it to rust from what I've seen some on dsmtuners.

The rust will clean off very easy. Green Scotchbrite to remove the thicker rust. Then use 000 or 0000 steel wool to polish. Any hardware store will sell this.

Yeah as stated above. due to them being steel they will rust once exposed to the elements. Just clean them off and run them.

I don't like any rust on the lobe itself. It should have been coated with grease once removed from an engine.
