Fuel Pump Alternative

Any legitimate alternative fuel pumps to the Walbro 255lph? The whine is really starting to drive me nuts. I don't care if yours doesn't whine.

I just saw this interesting picture here

Dunno if anyone's got info about it. Otherwise I heard something like the Supra fuel pump works? There was another thread about using the X fuel pump but it doesn't flow enough for what I'm looking for.

The walbro has been dominant for way too long for the noise it makes and the failures it has had.. something's got to have come out in the last 4 years??

JayRacing.com announced a new line of pumps recently, including a direct replacement for the Walbro 255hp.

Complete dropin replacement for an existing 255, plus more flow and e85 compatibility:
http://www.jayracing.com/index.php?m...oducts_id=2619

these pumps are too new to know about how noisy they are though.

Myself, I would feel a lot more comfortable buying the jayracing version of the Walbro 255 vs the pump you linked to.

Deatsch Werks makes good injectors I know that much. Came very highly recommended from AMS awhile back when I got mine.

yea i've seen like the bosch 044 which is external or something - i just thought there'd be more internal direct replacements like the walbro, but i guess two new ones have just come out.. should be straight swaps - im ready to get rid of this whine, hopefully the other pumps dont do the same.

Walbro isn't the only fuel pump that wines.... lots of aftermarket fuel pumps wine.

The Bosch is loud as well and depending on how its installed is a pain in the @$$.

Just deal with the noise. If you upgraded your fuel pump then I assume you are trying to get more power out of your car.......If so then thats the smallest noise you'll hear (exhaust, turbo whine).

Maybe i just don't understand. I've never been in any car with a Walbro that was obnoxious.

i want to get rid of my walbro, i havnt had it long but it is rediculous how loud it is. all it does it make a high pitched whining noise that can be heard 10ft away from the car. its almost as if i didnt put the cover over the pump and then not put the rear seat back in

Yeah I think the walbro whine does vary b/w different cars from what i've seen on these forums.. but no, it is the loudest noise on my car. And just plain ridiculous at idle.

We are all interested in feedback on this pump, so if you get one, post up your impressions.
