my clutch went out at around 7,000. I replaced it and a clutch hose (with the braided hose). Works great now. I ended up ordering 2 clutches (long story), but have an extra that I will sell cheap if anyone is interested. It is an exedy hyper single. PM me if anyone wants it.

Just passed 6k...With a handful of launches my stock clutch is perfect. 330whp and it holds just fine.

I am not really complaining about the clutch per say, but I do have an issue with them saying that you void your warranty if you put another clutch in your car other than the Mitsubishi one. That is flat out illegal, no ifs ands or buts. My clutch pedal is getting a little bit higher these days @ 6700 miles and I do have an early build date car, which I do not know if that makes a difference or not, but I was not happy when the service advisor said that putting a different clutch in would void my powertrain warranty. They can not say this legally.

Sorry to be so blunt but some of you guys are lemmings with the "no problem here" answer.

There IS an inherent problem with the "clip" of the stock clutch which should be fixed by Mits.

When I went in to test drive an evo the only reason that they didn't want to let me drive the car was because of the clutch! They said something about how the cars new owner wouldn't want to get the car with the clutch worn out!

Any reputable brand of vehicle worth your money warrants the entire car bumper-to-bumper for 12months/12k miles. That includes brake pads/rotors and clutches.

A clutch is a wearable item on the car... dealers will not replace wearable items..... bottom line... if you don't know how to drive an AWD you are most likely gonna burn the clutch out...... Everyone i know has not had a problem because 85% of us have driven AWD's before......... This is a user malfunction....This clutch is ment for street driving not draging or hard launches.... droping the clutch will burn this clutch up in a heart beat......

The clutch should match the cars performance.
Whole world knows this is a nation of drag racers and the trend didn't just start last year so there is no excuse for the weak clutch.
It's wrong to say that the clutch is for street driving and not draging.
Although I dislike drag racing, street driving is up to the speed limit with no launches whatsoever and you don't need a race car for that.
Sorry Grod but they should have adjusted the car for the market they are selling it at or at least not void the warranty if you go with a better clutch (on your own expense).
If it's tear/wear - does your dealer voids your warranty if you switch your Advans for Toyo or Bridgestone?
What about changing your windshield wiper blades? If a motor on the wiper dies - are they gonna void your warranty for the whole washer system because you had "wrong" blades?
I don't think so.
First they have to prove that your custom installation caused the problem and then it's a different story.

go put slicks on and go to the dealer.... we'll see what happens to you drivetrain warr. bye bye...... if you put an upgrade what ever breaks is not covered.... that is how my dealer is.... he will not void the warr. over little stuff.... but if you add a bigger turbo and blow your rings or melt a piston you think they should have to repair it.... no... the car is warr. under the way you buy it..... if you change it then you pay for it..... you think that a dealer should have to pay for a broken part because you drag race your car...... this car was not built for dragging it was built for road race... and at the present HP rating the clutch holds up fine for driving and even road racing..... once you start tweaking with it and adding more HP and trying to launch it there goes the stock clutch.......The only reason you need to upgrade your clutch is because you want to be able to launch the car without burning up the clutch.... I think in todays market what you got for 30K is pretty damm good.....Just because mits didn't build it to full race specs people are bent out of shape...... When i am ready to upgrade the clutch because i want more HP then i take the responisibility of breaking ****.... and as they say **** HAPPENS.... You take that chance when you upgrade stuff......

I wonder how may miles Mitsubishi engineered the clutch to last under "normal" driving conditions and not abused? We have a few members at around 20K with no problems. Let's see in a few months if anyone makes 30K on stock.
