Evo 6 speed trans issue NO REVERSE!

Ok so here is the story, i got my evo from my bro and the trans was grinding in 5th and 3rd and i was pretty sure it was gonna go out eventually and it did, only lasted about 3 weeks. I swapped in a 6 speed and i was loving it. I went the the grocery store today and when i went to back out of the parking spot NO Reverse!? WTF? this is a low mile trans and never had any issues until now and randomly reverse is gone!? Is this a common problem with these or has anybody else had this? All the other gears work fine but when i push it over to the right and down to go into reverse its like there is a brick wall and it won't even go down into gear. If i let the clutch out while i do it it clicks and goes down about 1mm but not all the way in and doesnt move the car at all. Im just getting sick of putting trannys in this damn thing and im thinking about selling it exactly how it sits cuz im in school and i have no job or money.

Any help is appriciated

On cold start up's it gets a little hard for me to push it into reverse. It will go in half way, i push it into neutral and back into reverse. Did you install the cabal for reverse?

What if (instead of a penny) you found out that it was your GF's diamond ring that fell in?

I've been having this problem since May, but it's even worse in winter. I'm going to look for a penny after work thanks.

I wouldnt think cold weather would make it worse if its something stuck in the shifter base like his was?

There was a hint of sarcasm towards the end of my post. With the help of another awesome EvoM member I think I found the culprit. The short route UICP that I'm running is resting against the top of the transmission (6spd) which is making it harder to get it into gear. I don't know the name of the part, but this arm that moves as you shift gears is hitting the UICP. As time goes on the UCIP is probably sagging more from the coupler stretching at the Throttle Body putting more weight down on this arm. So it's not a matter of temp change, but over time it gets worse. Hopefully that makes sense. I really wasn't going to look for a penny. lol.
