Transmission Housing Cleaning

In the next week or so I'm going to be dropping the tranny for a clutch install. Seeing it is 4 years old, it does have some oxidation that I would like to clean off and to give it a basic scrub down. I'm not looking to polish it to a mirror finish or anything, I would just like to bring back that bright new aluminum finish. Thanks in advance.

The only problem with painting is we all know its going to get chipped. Whether it's when its reinstalled, or when putting everything back onto or around it.... its bound to happen.

Thats what I was figuring would work pretty good are those scratch pads and a little elbow grease. I was admiring all those little nooks and cranny's on it last night and was thinking what a PITA those are going to be with a pad. I should go to a truck stop and see what they have for aluminum wheel acid wash.

Pressure washer...with a degreaser. Gunk engine bright works good too. Pressure washer eliminates all the scrubbing though..

My work does have a hot water pressure washer that I could use. Probably start off with the simple green or gunk remover with pressure washing, then finish it off with some elbow grease and more simple green. Good stuff, thanks guys!

Hard to argue with this combo. It should be pretty damn clean after you do this. GL buddy

That simple green seems the way to go. Shep would paint the DSM tranny's with alumi blast to make it look like new.

http://www.seymourpaint.com/alumi_blast.html Obviously cleaning it is really important. Just giving another option to make it look really good.
