It appears to weigh in at 12lbs. This is my home digital scale where I weighed myself and then weighed again with the FMIC. The scale is in .5 lb increments. I think the stock FMIC weighs around 10lbs for comparison. So 2 pounds heavier which is fairly light for aftermarket IC. Some aftermarket ICs weigh over 20lbs.

The tabs look to be bent down on mine, but was going to adjust them once I install it this weekend.

I installed mine today. I had to bend the lower tabs the correct way, but otherwise no issues. The IC is roughly the same size as the stocker. I installed the FMIC and a Buschur LICP and noticed a nice kick in the pants when I test drove it. Can't wait to get a tune.

this is fine for the stock turbo but i dont see this being practical for high builds for 500+. minimum 3.5" for over 450 hp.

I wouldn't trust this for over 350whp.

Stock dimension and lack of fin density, this is a good option if you need a stock FMIC, not a good option if you need an upgrade.

I would think this would be the opposite. I thought larger turbos flowed more air at lower temps, at the same PSI. Capable of producing the same hp at a lower PSI or more power at the same PSI, when compared to the stock turbocharger.
If you're producing less heat, you would probably require less heat transfer in favor of greater flow.

However, I don't know much when it comes to turbochargers themselves.

I sent mine to AMS where my sons car is being put back to stock. I got a call from them today and they told me when they took the red caps off the pipes there were small metal shavings in the end caps. Has anyone slse experienced this? They also told me it doesnt line up to the stock mounting points very well and the holes were bored out to big on the mounting brackets, anyone else?

Doesn't surprise me. If Mishimoto won't warranty a product sold on ebay then why chance it? I'm not saying every ebay core will experience failure but there's certainly a higher probability of finding what AMS found..

I bought it, used it for a week, got rid of it. Made power for one pull then heatsoaked.

Save your pennies for something worthwhile.

It probably requires the rubber isolators from the stock intercooler.
You should flush any intercooler before installing it.

Grain of salt. At least specify some parameters of the test. You can't just say that it heat soaked after one pull and expect to be taken seriously. For all we know it could have been a 5th gear pull on a dyno with cardboard over the grille and no fan.

Well, sir. Would you like to see the logs? Car made about 20 whp more than without it.... for the first log. Then started to knock like crazy once hot. The car was then detuned and detuned and the knock due to heatsoak was never totally removed. I have 4 or 5 3 log sessions trying to figure this out. Each time was the same.... power, less power, knock knock knock.

A proper bar and plate intercooler by a reputable manufacturer was then installed, and as I indicated all these symptoms went away. That is my experience.... take from it what you want. Personally, if you dont drive your car hard or more than one WOT rip now and then... giver. If you plan on racing your car or care about maintaining the performance even on a hot day... get a real intercooler.
