ROTA wheels and your thoughts on them?
In your opinion, Is FORGED a better manufacturing process then CAST? IMO the answer is YES.
Isnt it also true that MOST FORGED rims weight less then CAST rims? IMO the answer is YES.
Also, dont you feel that most of the time, a FORGED, higher quality rim has a better finish/final product? IMO the answer is YES.
I never said just because the rim is FORGED means it will automatically be stronger and/or lighter. But most of the time a FORGED rim IS lighter and stronger then a CAST one. Not always, but most of the time.
And once again, I NEVER said Rotas were "crap". Do NOT put words in my mouth.
Last, I said how the rim in the picture broke, maybe you missed that.

I'm sorry, I was speaking in generailities and didn't mean to aim anything specifically in your direction
Just another $.02 worth....I was looking for an extra set of wheels for my old Neon, and upgrading from stock 14x6 with +40 mm offset to 15x7 with +35 mm offset. Looking for lightweight and inexpensive, which is a difficult compromise but ended up buying Rota slipstreams because they fit both criteria. Then saw all the pictures in many different car forums about Rota failures and the more I looked the more I realized there were a lot of people cutting and pasting the same few failures, and creating a large internet rumor based on some small truths. So I didn't think Rotas are as bad as people think.
But having bought them, I put them to use. I have daily driven the Rotas for years, done dozens of autocrosses, and about 10 track days (30 minute sessions and then 30 minutes cool down, all day long). On track days I run 205/50/15 Hoosier R6 which is way oversized and over gripped to the stock 185/60/14 street tires the car was built for. I have spun off track thru grass and dirt, spun on track, and put some serious lateral G forces on Rota's rims and never had an issue. More likely to stretch the threads on my studs than hurt the Rota. Not saying they can't fail, but my experience has been Rotas are absolutely fine for daily driving and the occasional outings that stress the wheel way more than car was even designed for. Would I use them as pure race rims and run them non-stop with high brake heat and constant lateral G's ? Probably not - but I haven't tried it either. Can only tell you what I have experienced.
Sorry, that was more like $.03 worth.
