Knock offs has been lumped together with many definitions.... there are many reputable wheel manufactures that use similar styling to other companies... does that mean they are knock off's too?

Personally I don't think Rota's are crap wheels... for instance, many people race with rota wheels and I haven't found a ton of broken wheels roaming the internet from poor quality. No doubt there are much better wheels, in design (strength vs weight) and manufacturability (forged)

paying $3,000+ for wheels alone is completely ridiculous. just because a wheel looks similar doesnt mean its a knock off either. theres only so many designs you can make a wheel. some people will pay all that money for a name and a few pounds, im not one of them

The issue with Rota isnt of their quality, at least it shouldn't be as they are certified and undergo fairly strenuous testing; not to mention they manufacture wheels for automobile companies such as Mercedes Benz. Instead, the issue has always been the rationale that they are an outsider and not a proven wheel manufacturer in the EVO market, leading to the belief that they are not superior to say Volks, advan, ccw's, etc. I suppose that there is also the thought process of quality deficiency due to the cost gap between them and other manufacturer's wheels such as the ones listed above.

Umm okay. Think what you guys want. Theres a reason Rotas are cheap and it because there not as quality as other wheels.

Do you guys really think you are buying a high quality wheel for the price that Rotas are?? If so,

They only use Rotas on their Drag car.

They do not use them on any Time Attack/Road race cars, as they are not strong and dont hold up to track abuse. They use Enkies on all those cars.

The accident that broke that Rota was a mild accident (40-45mph, serve to miss deer, went into ditch, rota rim explodes), so yes, IMO, a quality wheel would NOT have broke in that example.

I have seen many other rims become the victim of an accident and have never seen one break like that one did.

Anyways, you guys can keep telling yourself you are buying super strong, quality wheels if you want. Just dont try to spread that info as fact, because its not.
