Almost all Evo's run rich, I have an RS and also changed the plugs and noticed a bit of a difference, but not much. Do you have the stock cat still or a testpipe? That could explain the large amount of gas smell.

if its the DC dp im thinking of they have a cat delete built in so that could be one issue of the car running rich as well as the fact all evos run rich with the stock tune. Get her tuned and im sure this issue will clear it self up

I think it's just the cold weather we've been having. On 30+ degree days, it's fine to my knowledge.

Mine has the exact same problem. when I turn it on the garage becomes a gas chamber. I did however pull out the after market manifold and put the stock back on and I think my ecu needs to be reset so it learns the flow of the air again. anyone familiar with Mines ecu? from Germany

I'm gunna second this..... yes it is true that you should/need a tune after you change parts like IC, pipes, exhaust etc.... but he's speaking about the car at idle and such...... the engine is in closed loop, it should be adjusting to target stoich AFR just like it was tuned for stock, no matter what parts he changed (same sensors, MAF etc..of course the stock ECU has limits.) .... and we are assuming even after the engine is at full temp it still runs like this, not just on start up?

My car is 100% stock as of 2 wks ago, installed IC, full TBE, 02 housing, IC pipes, Intake.... I haven't gotten around to retune it yet and it certainly drives and idles no differently (out of WOT, I don't do that yet)... this weekend I'll check what the AFR are.

I saw 10.3 - 10.5 AFR completely stock tune. I had exhaust, IC, LICP, and a walbro. My car was reaching 21psi peak as well on stock boost control.

Thats why tunes help so much for these cars. Rich Rich RIch.

My E4 Running rich

I just ordered a new manifold and decided that I am going to switch to an E8 ecu due to the fact that I dont want to deal with sending my ECU to Japan everytime I change something or modify the air flow to get retunned. A shame because I really like the response and agressiveness of this ecu. Any one here have any ecu's for sale but the inmobilizer must be turned off for obvious reasons
