I am starring at 4 yellow lines in FP's Mobil 1 oil selection list right now.

Also, the point recompile is making here(in my opinion) is do your own research! Believe what people tell you, but backk that crap up! Dont go bein a brown noser and wondering what recompile would do all over again and recreate it to a T. Because what he would do all over again is different than if he did it all over again and came up with a third list. If you lather rinsed and repeated this process, you would be a creator of an OEM perfect automobile. But no one here is that good promise... Its obvious that a majority of his information is based on experience, past present etcetera. You guys get way to uptight about this stuff. Boosted has brought some valuable information to the table, but maybe he should start his own thread telling people what he thinks, because we know he has a lot of experience too.

To me the title says it all. Everything I have learned. Does it say Everything to Learn? I will learn? The end all be all? No.

I love reading these threads, because comparing what somone else knows, and feels pretty confident is usually hit or miss, and I love seeing the misses, and seeing what the factors to contribute to the miss would be if I am even able to tell.

LEARN on fellas... Learn on..

Ditto. It was a good thread when originally posted. Now that it has been debated and discussed, it is a GREAT thread. I agree 100% regarding the "everything learned". I never thought it was sold to me as fact. Good stuff.

I would like to see proof, that they picked M1 for its emission levels.

Knowing that car companies want their motors to last, Im sure they care about protection more then emissions.

Also being that they recommend Mobile 1 for all the EVOs, even ones made for countries with NO emissions testing, I again find this hard to believe.

BTW, I use AMSOIL as I have an FP BLACK.

You're defending Mitsu's recommendation of Mobile 1 for all Evos, but you run Amsoil?

C'mon, don't be contentious just for the sake of it. "I would like to see proof" is a negative approach to the discussion. I get what you are saying, but take the rest of the oil discussion into context.

Recompile also mentions that almost ANY tuner would recommend another oil for protection. The FACT that you run Amsoil is proof of this.

If you want to do your part to correct what you feel is misinformation, then please do so, but do so by explaining the cost/benefit/risk of running Mobile1 vs. other oils, or even the oil that you run. Using "I run Amsoil because FP recommends it" doesn't really add anything to the discussion unless someone is unaware of FP's recommendations.

I like debates, particularly those that are educational, but approaching it from the angle that you did discredits the knowledge that I'm sure you have. Just trying to help.

Respect.

Hello Jay,

I only run AMSOIL because FP Performance requires me to so that my FP BLACK is covered by warranty. I have own 3 EVOs since '05 and have always used Mobile 1 otherwise, even on my old FP red (before FP made their oil announcement). I mentioned my running AMSOIL to show I dont even currently run Mobile 1 and am not a "fanboy".

(IIRC, the reason FP requires special oils is because FP Reds and Black's have a steel on steel bearing. OEM turbos and other aftermarket OEM frame turbos have a brass on steel bearing that doesnt need special oils. just some info)

IMO, Mobile 1 is fine for stock block and/or mildly modded cars (below 400-425hp). Of course when you have a built motor, you should use what your engine builder recommends. Also, if your aiming for 500-600+hp, you should be using a more expensive, high quality oil. And, if you own a FP turbo and FP requires you to run a certain oil, you should. But MOST EVO owner are on the stock block and/or have less then 400hp and dont own a FP turbo. IMO, they are FINE on Mobile 1.

Im not being contentious for the sake of it. I feel the OP has made some bold statements discrediting Mobile 1 with no real proof, IMO. Yes, Mobile 1 may not be for everyone and everyone's setup, but its not gonna kill every motor it goes in, like that OP makes it seem.

Well stated. I can't say I've reviewed all the posts and read that Mobil1 will kill engines, but I understand your point. I knew FP did not recommend Mobile1 due to the bearings, but did not know they warrantied based on it.

That makes sense to run whatever they recommend if they have a reputation for honoring their warranties.

This post is a much more well presented way to get your information across.

And most high-level race cars have frequent engine rebuilds.
