problem with Defi oil pressure gauge

the gauge was working fine, then i notice this problem. the needle bounce back and forth at around max, doesn't matter if the engine is running or not. is it bad senor, bad wiring, bad controller?

It is either a bad sensor or bad wiring or both. It sucks, also the replacement sensor is fairly close to the cost of a brand new gauge.

I had this problem with mine too.

Check the connection or plug FIRST. Especially if it's exposed to the elements, they tend to oxidize. I cut mine off and ran my own connectors with no issues for years now. GL.

mine used to not work too like that...when i had it screwed directly into the oil plug.....what i did was buy a new sensor and get the steel line to run from oil plug up to car...so now my oil sensor is like next to the radiator overflow tank....keeps the leads clean and i never had an issue runnin it there ..been atleast year and a half now

Definitely mount remotely if you arent already. I've heard that its not a good thing for the sensor mounted directly to the oil filter housing.

Hmm. Can anyone post pics of where they have theirs mounted? I still have a Defi Oil pressure and Temp sensors to install. Waiting on warmer weather.

Definitely sounds like the sensor. Same exact symptoms of a friend of mine in his Evo, new sensor fixed the problem.

As far as mounting spots...mine is right in the oil filter housing and I've had zero issues (along with many many others in my area). I looked into the adapters...but didn't want to push the filter down any lower to the ground.

I have the AMS oil line, I would NEVER run those sandwich adapters on the Evo, filter sits too low as it is.

Definitely. You dont need one of those anyways, there's 2 unused ports on the stock one. Just get the AMS line, or make your own.

looks like one of wire came of at the sensor plug. so i'm just going to cut and resolder without using the plug at all.
