if they are in good shape then you shouldn't change them! they are not really a part of preventative maintenance i don't think.

What?

Might as well do it while you're in there and have everything apart. Mileage?

You're kidding right?

It's like going to the doctors for check ups. You can pass on them, but when you get cancer it will be way too late. If you fail to change your timing belt and it happens to snap, you can have a lot more $$$ damage on your hands than the $800-1000 timing belt/water pump/balancer belt change.

Are you talking about the serpentine tensioner of the timing belt tensioner?

you may as well since say your water pump starts to go your going to need to get a new timing belt. since you should really not use it oncee you take it back off the car. so save your self the time and money and peace of mind

I have never changed a timing belt without changing the waterpump.. it would be a waste of time and money not to do it. And I have prob changed about 20 timing belts.

Yes change them. Buy a timing belt kit from stm and call it a day. Timing belts arent a 15 minute job and if you cheap out now, your gonna kick yourself when you have to re do it

What it comes down to is used parts lasting another 60,000 miles vs new parts lasting 60.000 miles. Either could fail in that time but there is less chance with new parts. So, it is a cost/risk decision that only you can make.

If you think about it you would be like killing 3 birds with one stone cause when you change your water pump and timing belt your going have to change out your coolant also. Plus I would also change the tensioner cause you dont want that go out while driving. Than your gonna need $$$$$ to dish out after that.
