JDM Heads Fog Light Question (Pic)

So I just took my JDM headlights apart for some modification. I currently have a MR which comes with stock fog lights. These JDM heads have a part blocking the fog light (see pic, part on the bottom). USDM MR heads have a similar piece except it's open in the center. I managed to get the piece off, but I'm wondering if I could possibly melt something if I run fogs without it at all? Especially since I plan on running aftermarket fogs.

I could just swap the piece from my current lights, but I don't want to take apart my USDM heads if I don't have to..

damn id rather open up the USDM heads.lol

i would run the one that has the cutout center, if you want to run the fog lights. or if you dont want to open up the other headlights, just leave that piece out. all the solid one is going to do is block light

Well, I kind of had to open them up since the plastic glass was pretty messed up and had a spare headlight. So I opened them up just to swap the flat black housing.

I'm only asking because I don't know if that piece on the stock heads is on there for heat resistancy or something...

The only reason I can see that it would be there would be to focus the light more. Directs the beam back into the housing and bounces off the reflective surface.

i have the jdm evo 8 mr headlights and the reason they have that little blockoff plate/cap/whatev is so u don't blind ppl. The usdm fogs point straight down, whereas the jdm fogs are kinda like your highbeams. So, to prevent you from blinding everybody, which ur probably already doing cuz the cutoffs are on the wrong side , they put the little blockoff plate/cap to prevent that

I just held a flashlight to the back of it and it looked pretty dull with it although it did still shine some light.. But why would the USDM MR heads have ones with openings in it, if it was just for focusing?

Can any of the Non-MR members who are running fogs chime in? Are you guys running these parts?
