Rattles & Squeaks Inside Your Evo [ALL THREADS MERGED]
I've got a couple of noises. One is the aforementioned squeak that seems to come from the plastic housing just behind the metal part of the steering wheel. The other comes from something in the trunk. I don't know what it is but it's a definite rattle. These noises are annoying but forgiveable.
I had noises.....was like an itch i couldn't reach. I removed the A-Pillar panels and rubbed Armor All on all the wire wraps and sprayed it in some areas I could not reach (avoiding the wire contacts). I was told along time ago, that WD40 is very bad for plastics and rubber....will deterioriate after time. That noise was gone.
I had another noise near the bottom of my drivers seat.
Thought it was the back floor mount near the Apillar, loosened the bolt and sprayed some lubricant in it....nope there was still a creaking noise. Finally located the noise it was the rail of the seat. Quick squirt of WD40 (metal, OK). Noise gone. I have another noise behind the dash. Sounds like a drunken cricket
. Noise only appears when I have driven the car for about 5 minutes and only sounds between 40-50mph. Even when I am coasting the noise still appears from 40-50mph.

maybe i just got a good car, cause even after all the stiffening, and bracing i've done, the car still does not make any "unnatural" noises...
at least nothing that i'm gonna belly ache over...

drunken cricket? thats funny. Sober it up or give it some Raid to shut it up!!!
I have heard a few rattles, but theyre on n off. I think sometimes its from my cone filter or because of my VTA SSQV.
Ima investigate some more.

Yeah, I get an occasional "ticking" or high-pitched "creaking" sound from the dash area, but only when it's cold...my Evo was perfectly quiet in the summertime...sounds like plastic rubbing or something...I think the cold makes the plastic parts shrink a tiny bit, and so they aren't as tight as they are when it's warm.
Solution??? Crank up the stereo!!!

you might want to try opening the driver side door and spraying the lock assembly to death with a lubricant.
I had the creak and this took care of it. It comes back every 6-8 weeks, but I just re-spray it and it goes away again.
20k miles and this is the only annoying rattle I've had. There are some other little ones, but this one was a MAJOR annoyance!! Especially over bumpy roads.

since we are on the rattling problem again, here i go. 2-noises
1- driver seat makes poping sound when i shift my body, sound like its coming from bottom of the seat right wher you *** is. told mitsu about at my last oil change got the regular
from them.
2- rattling coming from the driver seat belt cover right next to my ear, something from behind the cover sound a little loose. would not tell mitsu about this, don't trust them to remove any more panels from my car.
reason for that is they took my passanger door panel off to fix the peeling felt on arm rest, and didnt have a clue how to put it back on, put i on all wrong, went home and tokk it off and fixed it agian. (specially trained evo mechanics my left nut).
now i feel better, had to let that out. other that that evo is the hottest car out, almost a year later and people still get whiplash looking at the car.

Another weird noise thread
I have noticed this noise ever since owning the car, but have never tried to locate it, until today
. I have the regular dash rattle type thing (which I'm pretty sure is the wiper), but this noise seems to come from the dash somewhere. It's difficult to describe, but it's like a 'tink' sound. I can reproduce it by pressing the accelerator pedal about half way down, and it doesn't seem to do it regarding RPMs, just the position of the throttle pedal. It's not a microswitch type sound you get when you press the clutch in though. Anyone have any ideas what it is?

I have the same problem. I played with the outside window molding and the sound went away. I think that was the cure. I read on here somewhere that there is a loose piece in the heater ducting that causes the problem of rattles too. Try there as well. Hope that helps.
Annoying rattle
Yes everyone I know how to use the search button. I was hoping someone actually knew the cause of or how to repair an annoying rattle in the passanger dash/glove box or window seal/wiper that seems to get even worse in the cold. Everytime my car is jarred or even just on rough pavement I get a clicking sound that almost matches the car's motion! Please help. I'd try to listen for it myself but I don't really trust anyone to drive it or they can't drive stick!!
Anyone else with a similiar problem.
