simple fix, Try swappin the right bulb with the left or vice-versa, whichever one is giving you aids...

If you don't find the problem there, it's your ballast.

i have had the same thing happen to me in my maxima with factory HID's. in my case it was just the bulb..ballast still works years later.

this happend to my friends 8 and his bulbs turned pink and we changed them, then they started the shutting off, so we replaced the ballasts. so i would replace both imo... i got my hids from http://shop.lightwerkz.net/index.php?cPath=2 they also have the ballaest there. with my friends car he just retro fitted the new ballests. GL

Sounds like a bulb. That's what mine were doing.

i will start up with changing the bulbs
just to confirm
i would need D2S bulbs correct?

Yes, you will need a D2S bulb.

That's not the right picture. That's just a stock picture the website uses.
Under the "HID Bulb Replacements (Pair)" window, you'd have to select "D2S" and the bulb color. Since there is no 4300K (stock color), just choose 4500K or whatever color you want. Then, add to cart.

D2S bulbs look like this:

And you will be putting the bulb in a socket like this (if you're doing it yourself that is):
