Ok, I officially hate winter.. RUST!
Ok, I officially hate winter.. RUST!
I have been noticing that there are a few silver dollar sized paint chips on my rocker panel under the door, some reall small on the door, and some on the C pillar. They are only surface rust/pitting now, but truth is Im losing sleep from this.
I want to have it repaired the "right" way, but being so little know how of body work I have to trust a shop. However, I need to know what the most widely accepted method is so I can call a sham when I see one. Or so I know what the dude is talking about when hes says $$$ and ill do this. Am I going to require an entire respray to get the car to match? In some spots the paint has just stopped adhereing to it looks like and bubbled, and the other smaller spots are def rock chips that have started to rust.
thanks!

Yea.. My 05' has rust starting on the rear fenders above the tires.. it really ircks the ****e out of me! Hopefully I can get it repaired before next winter. Body work is mad expensive
It's been a rough year for the east coast in terms of winter. I would try several body shops before deciding where to go though as many body shops will talk out of their a** to try and get your hard earned dollar. Up here in Canada body shops are probably charging double what you guys are paying in the US, so I see at least 4 shops before doing any work as I did previously on my Eclipse.
this is why my car is not a daily driver.. it gets stored in winter the minute we get snow here. things start to oxidize or whatever it is pretty damn quick in the winter in the engine bay.. all the metal parts get cloudy etc.

If I live up north again I will never drive my car during the winter months. It sucks because bad weather is kinda part of the fun of owning a rally bred car......but after being born and raised in Toronto and seeing my father repaint his cars multiple times..........My car will NEVER see winter. Never.
Yes, this winter has absolutely sucked and it pains me very much to even think about rust but its an unavoidable reality. I do enjoy driving my car in the winter with snow tires but this thread makes me really dread what my car will look like in a few years from now...
I have the same problem a bit above my rear left fender. Little bubles forming from our salty as hell winter here. Quote is 400$ to remove all the metal, ad metal, paint everything and make a very good job. Rust proofing every year with graphite method or parafine is pretty good also to keep that rust away.
Not driving my evo because of that? NOOOOOOO WAYY there meant to be driven the the white stuff.
