My evo has only 1300 miles on it so far. The only problems I notice are that I get a little rattling noise that sounds like a spring when starting out from a stop, or if I downshift a little late. Is this normal?

Stuck brake lights - off topic

Are you sure that wasn't just the rear fog lamp you saw? I used to think they had a stuck lamp, too, until we test drove an A4 wagon, and the dealer explained it. In Europe, you have to have a red fog light on the rear of a vehicle that denotes the left side of it (driver's side) as it's approached from behind.

Zeros were notoriously fragile in combat. Very manueverable, and excellent climbers compared to early US planes, the Mits Zero suffered from a fatal flaw - non-sealing gas tanks. If you could put a few slugs into it, it went up in a ball of flames. (Hope that doesn't carry up the line to the modern day Evos!).

Unfortunately my Evo has 80 miles on it, so my experience isn't really a trend at this point. It hasn't given me any problems the 5 times I've driven it!

I can honestly say that I haven't really had any problems.. I had one warranty related issue that was promptly fixed (5th gear grind, which was a TSB related repair, had something to do with the shifter fork, synchro and Idler gear mesh)

Any of the other problems I may have had were directly attributable to modifications I had made to the car or bad gas (I had fouled plugs causing a misfire, once I replaced them with colder plugs gapped a little tighter, the misfire went away)

15k and no problems at all. Still on stock clutch, after a couple trips to the track and many street launches.

Even my stock tires are in good shape after much abuse. I will say that I think my brake pads are about gone though. Last time I rotated my tires they were lookin pretty thin.

... And don't forget that people with problems are more likely to vote than people without (hell I'm not voting just because if I do I _know_ something will go wrong just my luck). Plus considering all of us are probably driving the cars harder than half of the Evo owners out there (as they should be driven, of coure it's a lil harder on the cars).

Mitsubishi doesn't have the reliability of someone like Lexus in general, but remember that the Evo is their pride and joy ... been around for years in other countries and you don't hear much of anything except good news there (I lived in New Zealand for 4 years solid.)
