Camshaft Sensor

So just bought my evo ix about 2 weeks ago and just picked it up the other day. Now went through emissions and it passed with flying colors now my check engine light came on and it is ready that its my camshaft sensor. Could it be any other problems then my camshaft sensor could the wiring be screwing with it or could it be something else? And is this a common problem.. I know its an east fix and im going to change the sensor anyway just so whatever its new. But please let me know..

No its just came on and i work at a garage so they hooked it up to the computer to see what it was and thats what the code threw. But they also told me they it could be wiring or something..
