Grind noise while start off

As i start driving my car from start at like a stop sometimes i hear this noise like its grinding... and it seems to happen again when i accel up to around 3700-4000 RPMS

I did just have the stock oem clutch installed on it and then it started to happen a while after it got installed... but all in all the car drives perfectly fine...

im wondering could it be the flywheel or the clutch with some major problem like it was installed wrong? and can this have some longated thing that could affect my car?? or should i just not worry??

Do you notice the noise happening with the clutch engaged or disengaged? This could possibly rule out a pressure plate / clutch disk issue.

This is a dumb question, but were the fluids changed with the clutch job? Is it possible the shop(I assume) forgot to add or used the improper gear oil? (I'd really hope not)

Just throwing some ideas out there.

@jackbenimbo - My car has 57xxx on it right now..
@hearts - well sometimes the noise happens when I start off and I let go of the Clutch pedal.. But well it's hard to say.. I guess right when it's revving off to start it sometimes makes the grind noise and sometimes it doesn't.. but it always makes the grind noise around 3700-4000 rpm when I press it to shift to 5th... The car drives completely fine in my opinion.. But can this affect something really important in my car later?? Thanks

Sad to say it but if its a dealer I trust their ability to do a rather simple clutch job. Now, to feel. Do you "feel" it happen as well as hear? Does the shifter vibrate excessively? Does it sound like if you were to shift too fast and grind gears?

You could have a bad syncro, but I have no idea how it would show up after a clutch install.

Sounds like it coulb be your cam gears, based on where u live i reckon theres lot o dirt/sand.
I had the same prob back when it was under warranty, the service men removed and cleaned
them both and sure enough the noise was gone. That is until gunk slowy builds up round the gears, down here theres lot of sand and salt in the air a cars worst enemy, so i believe a routine clean up of cam gears should be added to your to do list.

@hearts - well the grind kinda sounds like a high pitch wind up it's definitely not as heavy sounding as if I were to grind my gears..
@solo - when you had therouyine clean up how much did it cost?? And what's the miles on your evo??

Thanks!!!

I'd second the thought on the T-case. Unfortunately. Check out some "death whine" Evo videos on Youtube. Its usually more common on the 8's. But that definitely doesn't rule it out. I hope you get it squared away man!

Well there is a slight smell sometimes coming from my rear wheels and that smell is like burnin metal smell like if it was hot.. Can anyone tell me where the transfer case is located?? The grind I know is in the engine bay and It started happening a lil after I got my clutch installed and it seem like it's coming from the tranny..or somewhere in that area..

Anyone know how much it costs to get the cams cleaned up??
I think it could possibly be that as well along with the pressure plate =(

Okay I just watched some videos on the death whine and transfer case an it's definitely not that.. That's way to harsh.. This grind only happens like say at a certain lvl like when I start off from a stop or when it get up to 3700 rpm and never any other time.. So I'm thinking it's the pressure plate??
