Well I fixed my car today... I went through the effort of sourcing a new etacs popped the new one in and low and behold it didnt do anything and the symptoms were the same...

Guess what guys....my battery died on me...that was all... I shorted out the cig charger fuse and right when i did that the battery happened to die. My radar detector was flickering like i had a short..my headlights had enough power to power on and then they would intermittently flicker...my keyless entry wouldnt work ALL due to the low voltage.

Lesson learned...I had all the symptoms of a fried etacs but that was probably due to the voltage being to low to power the unit itself... Im an idiot but thanks for everyones help!

+1 dude not to flame your thread, but always check your fuses first. Your battery probably wasn't dead so you probably wasted the money there to. The evo wiring system is crazy(I blew my head unit out and my rear brake light went out lmfaoo

) .... Always start with the cheapest problem. Just to note a quick short like that wouldn't kill your battery. I have made way bigger shorts then just from the cigarette lighter believe me.
