mine isn't throwing any codes at the moment so it makes it harder to determine what's wrong.

I think mine jumped a tooth im not sure how but I dont think its a problem with the tune. Personally I think this is the issue because when I start my car it sounds like a diesel bus starting up it makes a loud squeel for a split second and then idles norm then idles like ****. Along with the vacuum leaks it doesnt make anything better either.

I don't think your problem is a timing issue. If it was a timing issue your car would always ldle like crap. It wouldn't idle good and then get worse. But you also do have MIVEC so its going to be harder to find exactally what it is for you.

So last week I took my EGR valve off and cleaned the crap of of it! I drove it all weekend long and DIDN'T HAVE AN IDLE ISSUE!!!!!!!! But for the people that are following this thread, do you remeber how when I put my test pipe on the idle was 451525 times worse? Well, I still haven't tried that out yet, so sometime durring the week I'm going to put my test pipe back on and if it idles good for a while (another weekend of driving) I'm going to edit my first post on this thread to conclude that for "MY" idle issue was the EGR valve being dirty and I'll add a step to step process on how to clean your EGR valve or how to edit your ROM in your ECU to totally disable the EGR valve. In a madder of fact I think I might disable it in my ECU so I don't have to ever deal with this EVERRR again!!!!!

So I think someone that thinks it might be their EGR too should also try this to help conclude the problem!

Also, my guess is that this happens to lightly modded Evos that have bigger inectors and fuel pumps. I'm thinking that most of us have higher miles on our odomiter. I have 89K, what do you guys have? Anyone here with 10k-40k-ish miles on their odo.?

same with me....i have roughly 75k miles and lightly modded.

I took my EGR out the other day and it's pretty nastly looking. havent had time to clean it out but will do soon.

and as for your write up.....you should include the symptoms, info on the car and what you did to fix. it took me a while searching through the evom before i found any useful info....which was this post. i appreciate your effort in helping us out. can't wait to love my car again.

Glad to hear you solved the problem. I was close way back on page one I guessed EGR hose poping off. I was told it happens if you run rich.

Running rich is also supposed to get the inside of the valve all caked up (which is what causes the hose to pop off). Might be why it ran the same way with the test pipe. I will have to clean mine out soon (been meaning to do it since my first post in this thread).

Glad you are running good again.

it wasn't running rich, it was a bad EGR valve. Or the vacuum lines running to the EGR solenoid are reversed one of the two LOL

Stock the evo runs rich. Adding mods can increase the issue before getting it tuned.

He said he had a test pipe and took it off. At one point it most certainly was running rich. Over time even it will still continue to gain build up.

It might not have been running rich at the time but it did at one time. The original build up was caused by this.

All the OP did was clean it out.
