How often do you recommend checking the cans, and is it different depending on the fuel you use?

i check mine once a month. i get the same watery stuff and i run 93oct fuel. pretty much anything that starts off cold and then heats up will make condensation. think of your engine as a glass of cold water on a hot sunny day. so as the engine warms up, the water/oil vapors will need to escape some where. so we run a catch can so that those crappy vapors dont get dumped back into the intake tracks or the ground environment.

I get the same exact thing from running E85 as well.

Me? The can is in the picture on my first post.

It's one can, mounted on the firewall with a breather filter on the top. AN fittings on my valve cover connect line from the valve cover to the can.

So then any junk in the atmosphere can just get sucked in (dirt, dust, etc..) at any time? That's not that smart, unless you have filters on them.

i dont catch anything from my catch can in between the valve cover and the intake...But when I woul check the intake tract before installing the can, there would be lots or gunk. I havent checked it after the install though (about 500 miles ago) its a saikou michi btw

Ethanol is hygroscopic, is it possible that you're getting water vapor out of the E85?

This hasn't been found on 100% pump gas engines?

I've been running E85 since Aug. 2008 and have never had this is my CC. Maybe a cap of Oil, no water. I DD it and garage it at night, not sure if that makes a difference.

mark, is there any way you can take a custom picture for me? im trying to see if my catch can idea will work before i drop my engine in. I just need to know how much space between the firewall and the intake manifold from the intake manifolds lowest point.

Also thanks for the heads up on e85 cars and catch cans as im switching to e85 this year
