The hitch in the photo is a Class 1 - any car can tow 1000lbs so long as the tongue weight isn't excessive.

AWD DSMs have a no-tow order in the manual as well. My 98's been dragging my Holesclaw and sportbikes/dirtbikes around since it was new.

So long as you stay within sensible limits it will be fine - I can imagine the Tire Tail could cause problems though, particularly if used with the Class 1 pictured above - that would be all tongue weight, 150-200lbs, not good. I think Class 1s usually a tongue weight under 100lbs, and the fixtures are designed accordingly. Class 2 I'm sure you could do that with.

Do you think that it'll pull a small trailer with a Honda CRF230?

OK.. I'M ONE OF THE RETARDS LOOKING TO PUT A HITCH ON MY EVO. I DON'T FEEL LIKE TEARING UP THE INSIDE OF THE CAR. BASICALLY I WANT TO PULL AN EXTRA SET OF TIRES AND A TOOL BOX ON A SMALL TRAILER. LESS THAN 500PDS. VERY INSIGNIFICANT. I DON'T CARE IF THE SCIENTIST SAY ITS NOT MADE FOR THAT OR NOT. DOES ANYONE KNOW SOMEONE WHO HAS INSTALLED ONE ON THEIR EVO, AND WHAT THEY HAD TO DO TO MODIFY IT. THOE99 THANKS FOR SHARING THE COOL MOVIES.

VOLUNTEER

I did it look at my posts.

I thought when I saw a Mazda Miata towing a trailer was a funny sight.

Many of us cannot afford a second vehicle like a truck to tow stuff, but we do have to admit: it looks pretty silly having this street legal, championship rally car with a wing and a loud exhaust towing something. It is like a Ferrrari with a U-Haul. To the average person, it doesn't add up, but we have to do what we have to do.
