Smile Just completed Buschur Stage 1 install

This took me a few days to complete since I was doing it as time permitted after work. I started with the intake which made the turbo sound really cool. I didnt notice any power imrovements with that alone but it was worth the money in sound alone.

I then did the full exhaust with test pipe in and the buschur muffler. I was wondering how loud it would really be. And let me tell you it is LOUD. But it sounds so Fing Bad ***. I think its one of the coolest import sounding cars I have heard. And that means a lot coming from me. Im more into the V8 muscle car sound. I thought I was going to be really let down by the sound of this car, but I am so happy that I went with the buscher setup. I didnt really feel a big hp increase with this either to be honest, but I figured that the car really needed to be tuned with the afc to get the gains out of this system. The system fits great and looks really good too (I went with the JDM style). But we did have to cut the pipe after the o2 bung and spin it down because the bung was welded on so high that the o2 sensor would hit the floor when rotated into its correct location. But no big deal since I was at my local exhaust shop, but it would have really pissed me off if I was doing it on jackstands in the garage. But it was all worth it once I fired it up!! I still cant believe how mean and nasty the car sounds at WOT.

Next was the boost controller install. The instructions were very vauge, but thanks to this forum I was able to get it installed. I think it would be near imposible to get to the turbo if I hadnt removed the fan, which wasnt hard but a bit messy since you have to remove the coolant hose. I tried to get from it below but just wasnt happening for me. I set it up so it spikes to 20 and then falls to 19 psi through the rpm band. This helped a bit as it no longer fell on its face after 5500rpms.

And last came the S-afc. Once I found out where the cpu was it wasnt that bad. I put in a couple of gallons a 100 onctane race gas to raise my gas up to around 94 which buschur suggests for thier afc settings. I got it all set up now and let me tell you this ***** rips.

Its not crazy fast but a big improvement from stock. Its so fun now. My wife wants more but I cant have it hanging with my Lightning. So who knows where it will go from here. Cams maybe? Or would the hard piping for the intercooler be better?? I cant wait till I can take it to the 1/4 mile now. If anyone is in the bay area and wants to check it out or hear the exhaust in person just let me know.

Sorry for the long post just trying to let everyone know what I thought of the system.

Sean

Its a real kick in the pants from stock.. Ain't it? I also went from a high-horsepower V8 to this car.. The Evo did everything much better than my race car, except horsepower.. the Stage1 made the car alot more enjoyable.. Wait till you start playing with the later stages.. (Big Evil Laugh)

I just raced a lighting the other day, I won.... So it should already "hang" with yours. We only got up to 85, but he wasnt gaining at all, about 2car lengths behind.....

(By the way, the guy was way cool about it, he came up to me in a parking lot a day or two later, and was like hey is your car? and I was like ya...then he said, I was in the lighting, then he pointed to his truck, which was sweet! Then he asked what I had done, and then said he was wondering why when he stepped on the gas in his truck why he wasn't seing my car get closer, but seing it pull away, I couldn't help but laugh, we talked in the parking lot for a good 20 mins, he said he is going to go buy one for his wife now! lol....its nice to meet people that are cool about geting beat........... )

My next mod will be "dynoflash" http://www.dynoflash.com
Only $200, and about 30whp added.....

My wifes evo wont run mid 11's at over 115mph (at least not yet) so it wont run with my Lightning. Remember not all Lightnings are stock

That kicks ***. Not a big truck fan, or a Ford fan for that matter. But gotta respect a 11 second truck.

Ya the truck is fun in a straight line, but the evo just kicks *** everywhere else. Its much more fun to drive than the L. With 460rwhp and 540rwtq the Lightning is always fun for some smokey burnouts though

Excellent writeup, I'm very geared towards going the Buschur route + dynoflash once my modding starts.
