are you a racer if you own an evo?
My two uncle in laws said to me the other day " why do you have an evo for you don't even race." I told them that it depends how you drive your evo. If i drive like you guys my car is gonna end up like your car undriveable and collecting dust.I'm 28 married have 2 kids. 1 and a 3 year old. I don't race. I like to think of the evo as my family car. Probably street raced twice in the last 3 years.
Mine is fully built from ground up i rarely plan to run it i did it just to do it so i can have a built car and the fun thats involoved in creating something beautiful. so you dont have to be a racer you can always do it as a hobby or for car shows etc. Nothing wrong with just having the look

Hobby for me. I always loved the old guys that had their prestine street vehicle in the garage that looked immaculate. I'm close to being there.
No one questions when someone has a old skool porsche or muscle car.
This is my version of that.

Hobby plus outside of its racing capabilities, it's a perfectly reasonable car. It's AWD so it's great in winter, its gas mileage is reasonable (I get about 20-23 mixed based on how I drive), it fits 4 comfortably, and has a good sized trunk. What's not to love?
This topic bugs me as well. I couldnt seem to take my evo out for a drive without some moron in a diesel or some domestic wanting to race me from stoplight to stoplight lol.
I went wingless to try and fly under the radar a little more. So far I think it has worked. Im with you guys. I love my evo. I love driving it fast and whatnot, but sometimes I just wanna drive and get to my destination. Just cause im out driving, doesnt mean I want to race. So annoying.

Driving is believing
. You might not want to let these guys pound it, but I've let people drive mine, and it puts a smile on 'em right away. My sister was a believer when she hit 140 in no time

No but it is nice to have that extra power that most cars on the road don't. It is always nice to be able to pass your average joe. Of course if you are next to something like a new Z06 or something that is another story.
I don't ever plan to do any competitive racing but I do plan on attending track days as soon as my work schedule allows me time to do so. Other than that it's just a car that I drive on my days off to make me forget about hating life sitting in stop and go traffic in my beater. It's not heavily modified and I don't do dumb **** with it so it's been one of the most reliable cars I've owned and I plan to keep it that way.
This is one of the (many) reasons I opted for the station wagon. It's far more subtle than the sedan. Interestingly I actually drive more sedately now than in my last car, a 96 1.5 NA lancer.
