Yeah it won't tear your hands up without gloves, but it will tear the wheel up to drive without gloves. Go to e46fanatics and look at alacantra wheel threads. They wear, ball up, and get very crappy due to moisture/sweat/dirt, etc. But they won't hurt your hands, they are soft and cushy.

This thread reminds me, I have an old EVO VIII steering wheel I need to list in the classifieds. Are these things getting that hard to find in decent condition these days?
