I got my car used and never checked to see what the condition of my thermostat was. I noticed one day that I was loosing a lot of coolant, and over time it ended up being that I went through a head gasket.

When I took the entire car apart, I took of my lid and it looks as if I have no thermostat at all. Am i looking in the wrong place, or am I correct that there is no thermostat installed in this car.

 

I haven't done the thermostat in a few years but I believe thats where its suppose to be. My guess is something happened to the stock thermostat, the owner tried to go to a parts store and was given a lancer thermostat that was too small, went back to the parts store but couldn't pull up another part number and decided to just leave it out.

get one off like 03 eclipse.. same size think it's a 160 or 165 degree though.. what I put in mine..

 

Spilt milk. Run one and don't worry about it.

 

your car well rarely get up to full operating temperature if you do not have one and if it does it will take probably an hour or more
