Lancer/Evo thermostat?

I need a thermostat for my 04 evo, and the guy at the autoparts store says the regular lancer and evo has the same thermostat part numbers, is this true?

Not sure about your question, but now would be a good time to upgrade to the Ralliart thermostat. Well, I guess that depends on what type of racing you do (if any). If you do race, it's a nice little addition and only costs around $30 shipped. You'll find it from several vendors on here or on eBay.

yup. might as well run the Ralliart t-stat. i decided towards it bcuz my car is in hot climates (AZ, FL) so i also run a Ralliart radiator cap, koyo radiator, Tomei thermo Killer (to help w/oil temps), & Redline water wetter in the coolant mix...

I know for a fact that a regular lancer thermostat will not fit an 06 evolution, it is too small unless it was boxed with the wrong part number. I am not positive it will fit on your year/model. I would get one from a dealer regardless if your going to try to save a few $.

remember, you DO NOT want to go a lower temp t-stat if you don't have problems with the stock rating. why? simply because the ecu is designed to work with that operating temp. lower it and you will lose either fuel mileage or power. i don't see a point in using a ralliart lower temp t-stat unless your evo was a ralliart built car.

operating temp is the key...
