I run mobil 1 because it is cheaper, easily available or no shipping cost, and because I have not seen definitive data showing a significant difference between the two.
If I could get amsoil for the cost of mobil 1 I would try it once though.

More than one two stroke engine met their maker with the use of AMSOIL in the 80's. I realize their new products are great, but I'm not trying to run the oil ultra hot or extend drain intervals.
UOA using Valvoline VR1 conventional came back great in my near 900HP. I had it done early to be safe (600 miles), so I'm going to extend it out some and do it again.
Even if I could run AMSOIL twice as long, it costs 3x as much after shipping and I need to wait a few days for it. VR1 is on the shelf at Advance Auto 4 minutes away. Not to mention the cost of topping it off (most engines built for big HP use oil).

For those of you that don't know, "TBN" is Total Base Number, and this is one of the main things you go by to determine oil life. With a TBN of 7.9, this oil had a LOT of life left in it.

All my fluids are Amsoil... Engine (15w50 dominator), trans (75w90 gear oil), transfer case (75w90 severe gear), rear diff (75w140 severe gear), and brake (dot4 600 degree)
It's always held up great on track, and I don't plan on running anything else.

We have been down this road already
High powered cars drop their oils very fast, make 1 or 2 passes, make a few laps and drain the oils in your case you ran 600 miles without discredit to you this shows no real evidence of this oil holding up to 6 hot laps at 140 mph and 40 lbs of bosst this is where the truth is found in oils and how well are thry designed not running it a few pases at 9 seconds each because the oil is being drainned very fast.
On the other hand some of the racers using a good synthetic can run the oil a little longer and not have to worry about the multiple oil drains, not to mention the reliability that has been proven over and over.
at the end of the day individuals will see first hand for themselves and run the oil they want to,, if you noticed most of the shops have come to see for themselves that by running a good synthetic the failures and wear and tear has been less
i could spend days posting up AMSOIL or Mobil 1 EP oil labs that will blow away VR1, BP and many other oil's,,, but at this point the synthetic oil business has prove itself so i dont feel the need to show anything. GM, Ford, Toyota, Mitsu, Honda on and on i go these OEM's know the benefits of synthetics and are finally using them to the full potentil,,, who the heck would ever say that good ole GM would let their customers run the oils for 10,000 miles and they are doing it for the ZL1 Camaro's LS3 and L99's these cars are high powered out the box just like the evo was when it came out

You are the king of people that shine light to others,, simply because you surelly put your car through real hard paces,, 100 degrees weather, 140 mph laps ect at over 20 minutes at a time, this is where the oils surelly gets beat to death and seperates the kids from men from an oil stand point
and i know you dont even buy from me
