Living with Evo 9 Everyday
As I am going to get an Evo 9 I can't stop thinking how easy it is to live with one everyday haha
Since I am going to use it everyday to drive to work with a mixture of 40% and 60% motorway...with some stop-start traffic jamming...
Currently I am fine with GTI because the clutch is quite light but I'm not too sure about Evo's heavier clutch.
Also...since I'll clog up about 1250 miles a month...for a 2005 car, which bit of the car will likely to fail first?

Stock clutch on an Evo is an easy one to operate, not much different from any other car. If you upgrade the clutch and pressure plate that is when it could get more stiff.
Depends on how many miles on the car you are getting as to what could fail and also how the previous owner treated it which you will not know. If you can get a lower mileage one you shouldn't have any issues if it is stock or close to it. They are pretty tough cars but like anything else there are people out there who can beat them into the ground.
Good luck with your purchase.

Thanks for the kind replies, the car I am planning to purchase has done around 5000 miles so far, sadly it's impossible to get genuine low milleage Evos in HK (adjusting the total car milleage is perfectly legal).
The car is almost stock except in my other post the turbo pressure is 20psi which is a bit high when compared to other Evo9s

Stock boost is 20 PSI btw.
I've been DD'ing my Evo IX for the last year and have loved every second of it. I doubt a 6 yr old car would have many electrical problems.

You might find the first week or so a bit hard with the clutch. I've got an aftermarket heavy duty clutch in my IX and I wouldn't have any trouble driving what you're describing. Just remember not to be disheartened if it's difficult to manage at first, you'll pick it up in no time.
I've daily'd mine for 5 1/2 years now and honestly the only thing I'm sick of now is the negative attention at times. I'm not at any crazy horsepower level and currently on an ACT street disk and really it feels like any other manual car in terms of ease of use. I'm really going to be sad the day comes that I will have to put it into the garage and make it a weekend car with my new born on the way next month.
Evo daily driving concerns were greatly exaggerated IMO - but I'm a family that comes from older Subarus etc.. Never driven like audis bmws mercedes.. I'm sure if I came from there I'd have a different opinion. Evo clutch is easy peasy - you just have to get used to the high engagement point
