broken bolt sitting in my transmission? help

Ok so to make this as direct and to the point as possible, last night I was out doing pulls in my car for an hour or so, and one particular rip on it I heard this loud scraping noise exactly like if you dragged a license plate on the ground. So I just took it home and went to bed. Today when I took it to the gas station it made the noise once or twice and it was really loud as it was initially. So I got home and jacked it up and looked underneith the motor and trans. I look at this dust cover looking thing covering where the motor meets the trans and I see it is pushed out a little bit and I see an unusual fragment sitting there. So I unbolt the shield and out drops a chewed up bolt with a stud broken off into it. At this point im trying to figure out what the hell it goes to and how bad of an idea it is to drive my car. Any imput would be great, I know its kind of a vague problem but you never know-

thanks

I'm guessing since it came out from behind the flywheel cover that it's one of the bolts inside the bell housing (pressure plate, flywheel, clutch fork bolts, etc.) and not the tranny itself. If it were me, I would take the tranny off and inspect everything.

yeah im trying to get it in a shop soon. Obviously if a bolt is missing something is going to fall apart. Im just stumped on what it is.
